"I don’t necessarily think moving into the new building was a turning point for me, but there’s a lot of other stuff going on that has made me realize that you can get through things. It may feel awful in the moment, but humans have this awesome ability to get through these things and thrive.
Before the move to 3675 Market, CCI was split between three buildings. We had decades and decades of people in offices and equipment they had accumulated. For various reasons, it kind of fell on me to sort through all the cords and tech equipment, and to decide: what did we really need to keep? What could we get rid of?
We had oodles and oodles of power cords. I think we had a pile four feet high! We even called facilities once just to throw some out. They went away with truckloads of useless, outdated tech stuff. Over on the top of the truck, it looked like this mass of spaghetti.
Our move date was April 1 - April Fool’s Day. There were a lot of people making bad jokes like, ‘oh you know, we’re going to move in everything, but we’re not really moving! Everybody should go back.’ Despite the move date in spring, we still had a lot of CCI Commons employees, including our full-time tech support staff, still working in the Rush Building."
