Drexel’s Steinbright Career Development Center has selected Ellen Bass, PhD, interim senior associate dean for research and professor of information science at the College of Computing & Informatics (CCI), as the 2025 Cooperative Education Awards Staff & Faculty Winner of the Year.
The Steinbright Career Development Center provides Drexel students and alumni with career and cooperative education services. According to the nomination letter for Dr. Bass, in her work with Steinbright, she hired students to support her research—resulting in “undergraduate co-op students co-authoring a paper that was recognized among the best submitted to the 2024 [Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics] AHFE Conference.”
In the nomination, Mike Kaczmarczik, associate director at the Steinbright Career Development Center, included a co-op student’s praise of Dr. Bass’s “leadership, organization, transparency, problem-solving, patience, [and] positivity” in guiding students.
Steinbright will recognize Dr. Bass and fellow honorees at the Cooperative Education Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in the Behrakis Grand Hall.
“There are many features that Dr. Bass possesses that are just hard to explain with words,” according to one of Dr. Bass’s co-op students, as quoted in the nomination. The student noted that Dr. Bass’s “critical thinking, creativity, caringness, and much, much more are just amazing.”
