CCI Day 2021

Presented by Drexel CCI's awesome Peer Mentors, CCI Day is a day to virtually celebrate the people that make up our community, and offer you an opportunity to unwind and have fun with your fellow classmates, professional staff, and faculty.
CCI Day will include games (with prizes!) and events such as:
- CCI Family Feud
- Scavenger Hunt
- Among Us
- Jackbox Games
- Philly Sports Trivia
- Disney Trivia
- Git Workshop
- PC Builds Workshop
- A CCI Cooking Show
CCI Academic Advisors will share the schedule, prizes and Zoom access links through Advising for CCI for all undergraduate students, and through email for all graduate students, faculty and professional staff.
CCI Day is open to all Drexel CCI students! There is no pre-registration required for any of the CCI Day events, and students may participate anytime between 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST.

Home Base - Don’t know where go? No worries. A Peer Mentor will show you where to go or just hang out here if you are not into the sessions occurring. Home base will be open throughout the duration of the event from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. EST
1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. EST
Join the PC Build Community - Join CS Professor Boris Valerstein as we discuss hot topics within the PC Building community. Who makes the best GPU (Nvidia or AMD)? Who makes the best CPU (AMD or Intel)? Newcomers are encouraged to join and learn from our discussion! Note: this is not a session about how to build PCs.
1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. EST
Opportunities in Information, Data, & Technology - Not sure where to take your Information Systems, Data Science, or Computing & Security Technology degree? Join Information Sciences Professor Dr. Gregory Hislop for an in-depth overview of these undergraduate majors, followed by current students and alumni talking about their experiences in the majors and the industry.
A Bit About Git - Want to brush up on your Git skills? Join Tammy Pirmann and a couple PMs and discuss version control, different git services, and learn about other students’ projects.
CS/SE Speed Mentoring! - Join CS Professor Dr. Brian Stuart as well as current students and alumni to discuss their academic and career journeys within the field of Computer Science and Software Engineering. This panel will be followed by speed mentoring sessions with the panelists.
1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. EST
Zoom Scavenger Hunt - What’s the silver lining of being stuck in your home? You become super familiar with what’s inside it! Fastest students to show us common household items will earn a prize!
2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. EST
Philly Sports Trivia - No One Likes Us and We Don’t Care. Philly sports fans are considered some of the most passionate and craziest fans in all of sports. Come show you’re the one true fan in our Philly Sports Trivia Kahoot and compete for a prize.
2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. EST
Research - Dr. Edward Kim (CS Professor) and Dr. Thomas Heverin (Information Sciences Professor/Associate Department Head) are here to help you identify your research interests and discuss next steps to take advantage of opportunities and to make the most of your time here at Drexel!
Co-op Chat - Curious to learn more about what the undergraduate co-op experience may look like? John Doherty, Associate Director with Steinbright Career Development Center, and longtime CCI Co-Op Advisor is here to help!
Among Us! - Just want to chill and play some Among Us with your peers? Don’t be sus, come right this way.
2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. EST
Are You Smarter Than an Undergrad? - Join CS Professor and Associate Department Head Adelaida Medlock as she hosts PhD student and TA Steve Earth in a fun game show where attendees can be selected to compete and earn prizes! Modeled after the popular game show “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader,” see how you stack up against Steve!
3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. EST
Disney Trivia - Be our Guest! From Camp Rock to Snow White, get your head in the game and earn the title of CCI’s biggest Disney fan.
3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. EST
Family Feud - ARE YOU READY TO PLAY THE FEUD??? Five students will be randomly selected from the audience to compete for prizes against CCI Faculty members including Jeff Salvage, Christopher MacLellan, Galen Long, and Christopher Carroll to determine the top answers from our CCI surveys. Hosted by CCI Master of Games, Brenna Martin!
Jackbox Virtual Party Games - Come join the party pack!! Beat the competition on games like Push the Button and Trivia Murder Party!

College Cooking in Quarantine - Are you over your Ramen Noodle dinner every night, but don’t want to break the bank? Come join our chefs (aka CCI’s Peer Mentors) as we teach you how to make a simple, delicious, and inexpensive meal.
