Lounge Operations

The Graduate Student Lounge on the lower level of Main Building (Main 010A) is open 24/7 and accessible to all graduate students via their DragonCard photo ID. Students are welcome to use the lounge space for social gathering, studying, eating, and events. All must adhere to University policies, including those related to events and campus spaces, and the Student Code of Conduct.

About

Since its opening in 2012, the Graduate Student Lounge on the lower level of the Main Building continues to be an essential resource for Drexel's graduate community as a dedicated graduate student space for for studying, relaxing between classes, groups meetings, seminars, and other professional development and social events.

The lounge is accessible to all current Drexel graduate students via their DragonCard and is available 24 hours per day, seven days a week. The space includes a 10-person conference room area and a large multipurpose space with various furniture, including high-top tables and chairs, smaller four-top tables and chairs, couches and coffee tables which can be moved around to accommodate various meetings and event setups for up to 65 people.

The lounge also contains the following amenities: 

  • Podium
  • Flat-screen TV with HDMI and VGA hookup
  • Speaker
  • White board and dry-erase markers
  • Bulletin board with announcements and information
  • Microwave
  • Drip coffee maker
  • Cold filtered water and cups
  • Various card and board games
  • Free book drop/exchange shelf
  • Front desk with phone

Access

The lounge is accessible by DragonCard ID to all current Drexel graduate students via their DragonCard and is available 24 hours per day, seven days a week. It is located on the lower level of the Main Building (Room 010A) at 3141 Chestnut Street. Currently registered graduate students, including semester and online programs, are granted access at the beginning of each academic quarter after the course add/drop deadline. If you are a graduate student and would like to request access, please contact graduatecollege@drexel.edu and include your full name and student ID number. Accelerated degree program students must be fully converted to graduate student status in order to gain access.

Reservations

ATTENTION GRADUATE STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS: Please submit your requests using the Event Form in DragonLink. You do NOT need to complete this request form.

Graduate students, faculty and professional staff may request to reserve the lounge for graduate student meetings and events. Other requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Undergraduate students and undergraduate student organizations are not permitted to use the lounge unless they are attending an event open to the Drexel community. Recognized student organizations which are considered joint organizations and have graduate students leaders or members may request to reserve the lounge for events, but a graduate student leader/member should submit the request and a graduate student leader/member MUST be present at the event and ultimately responsible for the use of the space.

Submitting a request does not guarantee you to the space. A representative from the Graduate College or Graduate Student Association (GSA) will be in touch within 1-2 business days of your request.

To submit a request, please submit the Graduate Student Lounge Reservation Request Form. Please note the recognized student organizations do NOT need to submit this form and should request the lounge via the Event Form in DragonLink.

Please note that all reserving parties are responsible for setting up and cleaning up their own events, disposing of any leftover food and trash and returning all furniture and equipment to it's original location. Food left behind is likely to result in insects or rodents. All parties must abide by Drexel University and Student Handbook policies and procedures. Any violation will result in loss of lounge usage privileges and/or further disciplinary action. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THIS SPACE!
