The University's residence halls and fraternity/sorority houses will remain open during winter break.

Leaving for Winter Break

Before you leave for winter break, please complete the following steps to prepare your room. To learn more about eligibility to stay in your room during winter break, please read the information below regarding winter break eligibility.

Please complete the below actions before leaving for Winter Break.

  • Refrigerators should be emptied of all food and remain plugged in.
  • Unplug all other appliances, including alarm clocks and computers.
  • Clean your room.
  • Dispose of all perishable items.
  • Empty all trash cans and dispose of recyclable items.
  • The heat must remain ON and set to 65 degrees.
  • Completely close and lock all windows.
  • Close window blinds.
  • Turn off lights.
  • Lock the door (Remember your DragonCard and room key).

 

Winter Break Eligibility

The fall academic quarter ends on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Any student who does not have a winter 2023 housing application must move out of their fall assignment by noon on Saturday, December 16, 2023. To be eligible for winter break housing, quarter students must:

  • Have a fall 2023 housing assignment
  • Have a winter 2024 housing assignment

Students who meet this criteria do not need to move out of their fall assignments and may remain in the residence halls during winter break. No additional action is needed.

The fall academic semester ends on Saturday, December 23, 2023. Any student who does not have a spring 2024 housing application must move out of their fall assignment by noon on Saturday, December 23, 2023. To be eligible for winter break housing, semester students must:

  • Have a fall 2023 housing assignment
  • Have a spring 2024 housing assignment

Students who meet this criteria do not need to move out of their fall assignments and may remain in the residence halls during winter break. No additional action is needed.

Winter Break Housing Cancellations

A quarter student who cancels their winter housing between Saturday, December 16, 2023 and Saturday, January 6, 2024, must immediately vacate their assignment. Students will be financially responsible for the nights spent in residence after December 16, 2023.
A semester student who cancels their spring housing between Saturday, December 23, 2023 and Sunday, January 6, 2024 must immediately vacate their assignment. Students will be financially responsible for the nights spent in residence after Saturday, December 23, 2023.

Staying For Winter Break

During this low-occupancy period, Housing and Residence Living strongly encourage students who stay on campus to be mindful of their surroundings and to always lock their doors when not in their room.

Winter Break Guest Policy

Students who stay in their residence hall over winter break and who wish to have guests during the break period must adhere to the standard guest policy. All students and guests must abide by the Drexel University Student Code of Conduct.

Facilities Access

Winter break is an optimal time for University Facilities to inspect and repair areas of the residence halls. Housing and Residence Life will provide as much notice as possible if entrance to residence hall rooms is required.
