Despite the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic locally and nationally halting Drexel University’s plans for a more comprehensive reopening this new fall term, there are still several amenities on campus offering in-person services for those students living and learning nearby, or who would like to access their services virtually.
Here is a run-down of these key amenities and how they will be operating this fall:
Drexel University bus service along the Dragon Route (Center City Loop) and Queen Lane Route (East Falls Loop) will be running on new modified schedules beginning Sept. 21. You can view the schedules via PDF on the Campus Bus Service website.
The Dragon Route, which runs from 33rd and Market streets at Nesbitt Hall to 15th and Race streets at the Center City Campus as well as 19th and Arch streets, is running less frequently than it did before the pandemic, but still completes its route about every half hour. The first shuttle will depart weekdays at 7:15 a.m. from 33rd and Market streets, and the last shuttle will drop off at 7:03 p.m. at 19th and Arch streets. The bus will not stop at 22nd and Market streets.
The Queen Lane Route is running roughly every hour from 7 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., completing a continuous loop between 15th and Race streets and Drexel’s Queen Lane Campus. Until Sept. 22, it is also running on an additional slightly modified schedule due to COVID-19 testing at Queen Lane.
The Powelton/Spring Garden Route has been suspended until further notice.
Be sure to keep an eye on this website for schedule updates, and keep in mind the following safety protocols if you plan to ride:
- Capacity for the buses will be drastically reduced; please do not utilize this service unless you are authorized to be reporting for work, class or research on campus.
- Masks will be required to enter any Drexel Transit vehicle.
- Riders are required to maintain social distancing while loading onto the buses and to sit in designated seating to maintain our safety thresholds. Riders must enter from the front of the vehicle.
- Upon entering, please take the first available seat starting from the rear of the bus.
- Each bus put into service will be disinfected twice per day.
- Hand sanitizer dispensers will be installed on each bus.
The Drexel University Libraries is now open! While things look a little different this year, the Libraries continue to offer essential services and resources for Drexel students, faculty and staff. The W. W. Hagerty Library in University City and the Hahnemann Library in Center City are now open for modified on-campus services.

Access On-Campus Learning Environments
Access to the Libraries’ physical locations is restricted to currently enrolled students and employed Drexel faculty and professional staff with a current Drexel ID Card who either have a seat reservation or an email notification that a physical loan is ready for pickup.
All clients must reserve a seat ahead of their visit using the LibCal Seats online reservation system. The Drexel Libraries currently offers two types of seating options in the W. W. Hagerty Library and Hahnemann Library:
- Seats in single-occupancy study rooms to support learning alone.
- Socially distanced seats in open spaces to support learning amidst others.
Access Physical Materials
This fall, the Libraries is offering several services to provide access to physical materials, no matter where you are. Visit the Borrowing Guide for more information about requesting access to physical materials.
- Contactless pickup: Drexel students, faculty and staff can request to pick up physical materials at the W. W. Hagerty and Hahnemann Libraries during open hours. You will receive an email confirming your loan items are ready for pickup. Upon receipt of that email, please go straight to the service desk at the designated location to pick up your requested items.
- Shipping physical materials: Libraries staff will ship physical materials on loan to a confirmed address upon request via the Libraries’ website. Physical materials will arrive within seven business days. All shipped materials will include pre-paid return shipping labels. Clients may also return physical materials via the book drop bins located at each location.
- Online delivery of digitized print materials: Staff will digitize articles and book chapters upon request and within three business days via email.
Remote Services & Resources
- Get 24/7 access to the Libraries’ robust authoritative online information resources, including journal articles, eBooks, databases, and streaming videos — from anywhere, any time.
- For general information assistance, live chat with the Libraries’ expert staff, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.– 6 p.m.
- Librarians with subject expertise are available for virtual consultations during normal hours and by appointment.
- Attend virtual information sessions and events.

Drexel Student Centers
Students who will still find themselves on or near campus this fall will be happy to know that the Creese Student Center will be open and accessible via DragonCard from 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Friday. It will be closed on weekends. The Handschumacher Dining Center will remain closed for the term. Students can also access the Korman Center with their DragonCard Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Other communal spaces including Ross Commons and its Sabrina’s Cafe, the Rush Building and the Perelman Center for Jewish Life will remain closed this term.
Drexel Barnes and Noble Bookstores have begun to re-open curbside services and in-store operations. The stores will adhere to new guidelines with everyone’s safety in mind. For remote learners, they are also offering free ground shipping on orders of $49 or more. Please continue to order textbooks and other course material through the website drexel.bncollege.com to minimize waiting in checkout lines.

- Queen Lane: Tuesday and Friday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
DragonCard Office: When you return to campus, a DragonCard will be required to access all buildings. A DragonCard is not required until you begin coming to campus, and you may follow the pick-up process at any time during the term. There is no charge for an initial DragonCard; however, there is a $20 replacement fee if a DragonCard is lost. Your DragonCard pick-up will need to be scheduled and new photo uploaded in advance.
Visit the Business Services COVID-19 Operations site and follow the appropriate process based on your status to schedule the pick-up of your DragonCard.

- University City: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.–7 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Center City: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
- Queen Lane: Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Drexel Campus Dining: Northside Dining Terrace will remain open throughout the fall term, featuring the Market Convenience Store and the Market Hot Bar with a section of fresh-made hot entrees and sides for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A DragonCard is required to access Northside Dining Terrance.
Hours of Operation:
- The Market Convenience Store: Monday through Sunday, 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
- The Market Hot Bar: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
Drexel Parking Services: All parking fees for students are suspended through Dec. 31, 2020. Parking fees will resume again in January 2021, and additional details will be provided at that time.
Students may choose any available lot to park when registering at no charge through Dec. 31, 2020. All on-campus parking terms and conditions remain applicable.

Drexel Central will be open for students wishing to drop off documents Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. The cashier’s office will also be open for in-person payments on Wednesdays from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Students will continue to be able to make one-on-one Zoom appointments with Drexel Central representatives via their My Success Team channel in DrexelOne. Prospective students and family members may request Zoom appointments via email through AskDrexel or over the phone at 215.895.1600, and continuing students may use those contact methods for additional questions though extended wait times may be experienced.
Academic and Student Support Services
Center for Learning and Academic Success Services (CLASS): CLASS will continue with remote services through the Fall quarter. Virtual Peer and Professional Academic Coaching will be available to all students by appointment. Tutoring for the College of Nursing and Health Professions, the Dornsife School of Public Health and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies will also continue online by appointment.
CLASS will be offering the following online workshops weeks 2-7 of the fall quarter: Tips for Learning Remotely; Time Management and PlannerPalooza; Test Preparation Strategies. For more information about making an appointment or registering for a workshop, visit drexel.edu/CLASS.
Drexel Writing Center: For the fall 2020 term, the Writing Center will offer online appointments only. Please contact the operations manager with any questions or concerns about making appointments: 215.895.6633.
Hours:
- Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.–9 p.m.
- Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday: limited hours when possible, check schedule.
Math Resource Center: For the fall 2020-21 term, the Math Resource Center will hold virtual tutoring via Zoom. Your math professor will provide additional details for the online tutoring sessions. Students should use their Drexel email id to log-in. Please email the MRC Coordinator, Sobha Philip, sp955@drexel.edu, with any questions or concerns.
English Language Center: All classes, tutoring and activities held by the English Language Center will be held remotely this term. Those interested in attending weekly tutoring or international students starting Sept. 28 or any of the center’s annual events can send an inquiry email to elc@drexel.edu.
International Students and Scholars Services (ISSS): The ISSS physical office remains closed until further notice, but staff is available to assist international students from 9 a.m.– 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m.–noon on Fridays. Students can schedule an appointment with an International Student Advisor by signing into Drexel One and clicking “My Success Team.”
Center for Inclusive Education and Scholarship (CIES): All CIES services will remain remote this fall. Students can visit Drexel.edu/cies to see programs offered by the center and if you’d like to learn more or have general questions, reach out to iedscholar@drexel.edu.
The Drexel Student Health Center will be open this fall for students to make appointments by calling 215.220.4700. Telemedicine appointments are also available due to the pandemic. Telemedicine is a simple way for patients to be treated by their provider by use of secure, HIPAA-compliant videoconferencing technology without an in-person visit.
Students who test positive for COVID-19 or believe they have come in contact with someone who tested positive should also contact the Student Health Center promptly to enact important health and safety measures and prevent the spread of the virus within our community.
The Drexel Student Health Center is located with the University City Science Center at 3401 Market St., Suite 105B. The entrance on 34th Street across from the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
Hours of operation for the Student Health Center this fall are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday, 10:30 a.m.–7 p.m.
Through Sept. 25, the Counseling Center will be offering quick access check-in appointments only, allowing clinicians to offer support to as many students as possible each day during periods of high demand, like the start of the new academic year.
These virtual appointments will provide students with an opportunity to talk confidentially with a clinician about their immediate concerns for about 25-30 minutes. Your clinician will talk with you about the reasons you scheduled the appointment and will focus on meeting your immediate needs. In cases where students and clinicians collaboratively determine that additional support is required, your clinician will make recommendations and answer any questions you may have.
Students should email the Counseling Center at counseling@drexel.edu between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the same day that they would like to meet with a clinician during this period. Staff will attempt to schedule for the same day, but depending on availability you may be not be seen until the following day.
Following this, the Counseling Center will be open for students to schedule full teletherapy appointments between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students may call or email to schedule an appointment. When calling by phone, leave a message with your name and email contact information for staff to respond.

Though the Rec Center will not be open for in-person use at the start of this new term, students can access Virtual Rec Center offerings from wherever they are. Check out the new Group Exercise and Impact Schedule for fall term and register for the classes that interest you, as well as the on-demand classes that you can view at any time that is convenient for you! Intramural Sports will also host upcoming eSports tournaments, with sign-up links for interested students coming soon.
