January 31, 2017: The College of Medicine was mentioned in a New York Times story about how colleges are looking to recruit more students from rural locales, which often have higher poverty rates and lower education levels than those labeled as "urban." The story notes that Drexel's College of Medicine includes rural students among those served through its diversity office.
January 19: A 2013 study from researchers in the College of Medicine, which studied NBA players who had suffered ruptured Achilles, was mentioned in a USA Today story about Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay who was diagnosed with an injury at his last game.
January 18: Michael S. Weingarten, MD, a professor in the Department of Surgery and medical director of the Comprehensive Wound Healing Program, was interviewed in a WTXF-TV (FOX-29) segment about an ultrasound device they are developing to speed the process of healing chronic wounds. The project is also led by researchers in the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems.

Montgomery is one of the authors of new Pennsylvania guidelines that offer recommendations for opioids in obstetric care.

June 1: Uri Hershberg, PhD, an associate professor in the College of Medicine and the College of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, and Andrew Cohen, PhD, an associate professor in the College of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, contributed to a paper that was recently published in the journal Nature. The paper led to a story about Cohen’s image sequencing lab’s work to glean data from a 3D video of organelles in a live cell, which was featured in Technically Philly.

July 26: Florence Gelo, DMin, NCPsyA, an associate professor in the Department of Family, Community & Preventive Medicine, was mentioned in a Philadelphia Citizen story about ARTZ Philadelphia, a nonprofit that uses museum visits to connect medical students and patients with dementia. Gelo brought a version of the program to Drexel and Jefferson University.
July 24: Carla Brown, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow, was interviewed for a WHYY/Newsworks.org story about "CD4 Hunter," a game created by Brown and researchers in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology that teaches players how HIV infects and replicates in the human body.

July 2: Youngmoo Kim, PhD, an associate professor in the College of Engineering and director of the ExCITe Center, and the College of Medicine’s Medical Simulation Center were mentioned in a Philadelphia Inquirer story about the STEAM lab at Roxborough High School, made possible through a collaboration with Drexel and a five-year $2.5 million grant. Through the collaboration, high school students visit Drexel for training in science, technology, engineering and math.

August 23: Garth Ehrlich, PhD, professor in the Departments of Microbiology & Immunology and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, was quoted in a Philadelphia Inquirer story about a project his lab is undertaking to collect ticks from the public and use advanced gene sequencing techniques to study their microbiomes. Dr. Ehrlich’s research study was also quoted in a KYW-Newsradio (1060-AM) on August 26.
August 23: Lynn Yeakel, director of the Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership, was interviewed for a WCAU-TV (NBC-10) segment about two upcoming Vision 2020 events Saturday, August 25 that celebrated Women’s Equality Day.
