I had an interest in global/public health prior to matriculating into medical school. After my first year at Drexel University College of Medicine, I spent a few weeks working alongside the World Vision Tanzania WASH team as a Dornsife Global Development Scholar in the city of Arusha. Along with two other Drexel students, I aided in the effort to explore the barriers to uptake of WASH services in the Karatu District. I found this experience to be extremely valuable and eye-opening in identifying the differences and similarities between our cultures. If anyone is thinking about applying to the program, do not hesitate to apply.
