Sebastien Trott
I had some interest in global health prior to med school, from earlier experiences living and working abroad. In the post-first-year summer, I took part in the Dornsife Global Development Scholars Program, where I worked with World Vision in Ntcheu, Malawi, on a WASH project. It was a super valuable experience and definitely confirmed that I wanted to incorporate global health into my career plans down the road. The main draw to this field for me is the unique working dynamic that forms when working with different backgrounds/cultures/languages. To explore this further, I’m currently taking a leave of absence between MS3 and MS4 to complete a master's in global health at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm.
I’m going into emergency medicine and am particularly interested in both disaster medicine and working in resource-limited settings. An MD from Drexel as well as this master's will open tons of doors for after residency, from clinical practice to policy to consulting. My dream job would be to work on a disaster response team while also practicing clinically. If you have any questions about this or similar master's programs, or global health as a whole, feel free to reach out anytime!
