Spending a month in Himachal Pradesh with the Himalayan Health Exchange was an incredibly enriching experience. Working alongside medical students and doctors from the U.S., U.K., Australia and India allowed me to gain valuable insights into different approaches to health care while providing clinics for Tibetan refugee communities and local Indian villages. It was inspiring to see how medicine transcends borders, uniting professionals with a shared goal of patient care despite cultural and systemic differences. Beyond the medical experience, immersing myself in the local culture at various locations in the Himalayan foothills along the Indo-Tibetan border deepened my appreciation for the resilience of these communities and reinforced my commitment to increase health care access for remote areas.
