Global Health Education Student Experiences Abigail Higgins

My summer was spent completing my master's in global health sciences from UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences. I partnered with a rural community clinic in Oregon to assess the cost and effectiveness of their mobile health clinic intervention on four different patient sub-populations. I was able to review their CPT (current procedural terminology) records to assess how different patient sub-populations utilized their services differently, the cost of the intervention and the human resource allocation required to operate the intervention. I am currently in the process of preparing the paper for publication and hope to continue to advocate for improved global access to care, particularly in rural settings, as well as empower work done by community health workers in high-income countries, as that was a large part of my conclusions from the research.
