Office of Postdoctoral Affairs Individual Development Plan

Your Individual Development Plan (IDP) is an evolving document that you create as you go along during your time at Drexel. Here you can find information on what you can do with an Individual Development Plan and how you can create one.

What is an Individual Development Plan?

Your Individual Development Plan is an evolving document that you create and edit as you go along during your postdoc time at Drexel. Your Individual Development Plan helps you:

  • Define your academic and professional goals
  • Develop a plan and steps for achieving those goals
  • Identify and communicate with your Faculty sponsor/mentor your needs

Creating an Individual Development Plan takes time and is your responsibility. This process is there to help you self-reflect, define, plan, and ultimately achieve your academic and professional goals.

  • ImaginePHD: This site can be particularly helpful to those in arts and humanities
  • ChemIDP: This site is geared towards those in chemical science and/or engineering fields
  • NPA Checklist and Guide: Great general resource from the National Postdoc Association to help any postdoc think about what to include in their IDP
