Systems / Precision Medicine
Patient-specific modeling (PSM) is a multidisciplinary approach to solving physiological / pathophysiological problems through the development of in silico (computational) simulations utilizing patient-specific data (i.e. imaging results, blood / endothelial cell parameters). Personalized treatments / therapies can be optimized / tested through the incorporation of biological characteristics (e.g. omics, integrated physiology) into a multi-dimensional model. This systems-based approach offers a significant potential for improving the capabilities of 'Precision Medicine' in which a person's biology (genotypic, phenotypic), environmental and social milieu, including attitudes and beliefs, are decisive in informing right therapeutic strategies and interventional intensities (drug dose, duration, invasiveness).
