The Department of the Radiologic Sciences at Drexel University College of Medicine includes diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine in an innovative network of clinical academic entities. The primary academic sites include the Allegheny Health Network, which consists of 14 hospital sites in western Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and western New York; Tower Health at Reading Hospital (Reading, Pennsylvania); Crozer Chester Health (Chester, Pennsylvania); WellSpan York Hospital (York, Pennsylvania); the Kaiser-Permanente Bay Area System (northern California); and UPMC Pinnacle (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania).

While the department is one of the newest at Drexel University College of Medicine, it represents a consolidation of multiple robust, established specialties dedicated to providing the finest in medical care within a clinical academic environment. Department members are dedicated to leadership within the institution, as well as extramurally on the national and international fronts, in the provision of outstanding and innovative care in an atmosphere of academic excellence focusing on research and education. This excellence forms the structural foundation for outstanding medical education of medical students, residents, fellows and clinicians.

Mark Gerard Trombetta, MD, FACR, FACRO, was appointed as a member of the International Organization for Radiotherapy for Benign Conditions (IORBC).

David Sacks, MD (Tower Health – Reading Hospital) received the 2022 Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology Editor’s Award for Outstanding Clinical Study for “Outcomes of Stroke Thrombectomy Performed by Interventional Radiologists versus Neurointerventional Physicians.”
