Johnson & Johnson 4D Fellowship Program

The Drexel Drug Discovery and Development (4D) Fellowship Program is a joint effort between Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine and Drexel’s Pharmacology and Physiology Department to support Master’s students (DDD or Pharm/Phys) who have experienced challenges that limited their access to academic training and career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry.

The fellowship offers full tuition coverage and a stipend for living expenses, allowing 4D Fellows to complete coursework, conduct research, and prepare for a career in drug discovery and development. 4D Fellows can conduct research at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine.

To inquire about Fall 2025 4D Fellowships, please contact Dr. Alessandro Fatatis (af39@drexel.edu), chair of the selection and steering committee. Applicants must be accepted into a Drexel graduate program to be considered for this fellowship.

Fellowship structure

Desmond Lewis Starts New Research Position

Congrats to Desmond Lewis, 4D fellow class of 2023, for starting a new position as an associate research scientist at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine.

4D Grad Continues Work at Janssen

Previous 4D Fellow and 2023 graduate Mohammed Sani Alhassan has been offered a permanent position as an Associate Scientist at Janssen Pharmaceuticals. Mohammed’s new position focuses on chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) screening in the Cell Therapy/Therapeutics Discovery division. Congrats, Mohammed!

The Janssen-Drexel 4D Fellowship program welcomes 2023 fellows Melina Kazemi and Matthew Yohannes! Melina and Matthew comprise the third consecutive class of 4D fellows, continuing the program’s commitment to help diversify the biomedical sciences. Melina has enrolled in our Pharmacology & Physiology MS program, while Matthew enrolled in our Drug Discovery and Development MS program.
