Christianah Alli (2025)
Christianah was born and raised in the Bronx (New York City). She attended the University of Hartford, earning a BS in health sciences, followed by a master’s degree in biomedical science at Drexel University. Now in her third year of medical school, she is an academic coach and mentor for first-year students. She has many academic accomplishments, including receiving the ASCO 2023 Underrepresented Medical Student Award for her research project in neurocutaneous melanocytosis, a rare disease in children. Christianah also presented her research at the National Medical Association Research Symposium in Philadelphia in June 2023.

As a future physician, Christianah plans to work in medically underserved communities, providing quality health care, improving her patients’ health and inspiring change in their lives.

Michelle Ehiriodo (2025)
Michelle was born and raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She attended the University of Maryland, earning a BS in biochemistry on a pre-medical track and a master’s degree in biomedical sciences at Rutgers University. Now in her third year of medical school, Michelle excels academically and is involved in many volunteer activities, including serving as the co-president of the Drexel chapter of the Student National Medical Association, peer mentoring first-year medical students and co-founding Philly Student Doctors, a nonprofit community-service organization.

As a future physician, Michelle’s goal is to improve the health of vulnerable and marginalized communities by increasing health literacy, minimizing economic and social barriers, and providing needed representation.

Lauryn Bender (2026)
Lauryn was born in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Chester County, Pennsylvania, when she was 4 years old. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she graduated summa cum laude with a BS in neuroscience and a minor in chemistry. Now in her second year of medical school, Lauryn mentors aspiring medical students and volunteers at the Eliza Shirley Clinic, one of Drexel’s Health Outreach Project student-run clinics. She was elected to serve on the leadership team of the clinic as a patient advocate, guiding student volunteers through the patient interview process. Lauryn also works as a patient navigator at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, engaging with patients during checkups and providing health resource information to patients and their families.

Lauryn has great interest in promoting health equity, and she plans to pursue a path in medicine to bring quality health care to underserved communities.

Bernice Kear (2026)
Bernice was born in Monrovia, Liberia, moved to the U.S. as a child and was raised in northern Virginia. She graduated with a BS in biochemistry from the University of Mary Washington, followed by a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. She later earned a master’s degree in physiology from Georgetown University. Now in her second year of medical school, Bernice participates in the Drexel chapter of the Student National Medical Association and the Crime Scene Investigation Club. In addition, she works as a graduate research assistant in Drexel’s Dornsife School of Public Health.

Bernice has an interest in global and public health, and she hopes to positively impact the lives of her patients and contribute as a physician to the advancement of health care.
