Huffington Post Publishes Judicial Bias Column by Professor Lisa McElroy

November 23, 2011

On Nov. 22, the Huffington Post published a column by Professor Lisa McElroy and American University Law Professor Amanda Frost that explores the nature of judicial bias.

The column critiques an effort by Protect Marriage to disqualify a ruling by federal Judge Vaughn Walker, who struck down a California ballot initiative that barred same-sex marriage.

Using Walker’s sexual orientation as a justification for disqualifying him ignores the fact that all judges bring personal characteristics to the bench, the authors argue.
