Online National Championship To provide additional, affordable trial competition opportunities, Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, and UCLA School of Law are launching the Online National Championship. The event will be February 23-25, 2024 on Zoom. Applications are now closed. View Brochure Competition Information Each team has two students. One is the prosecutor, and the other is a defense attorney. They will each get to try the entire case -- opening, direct, cross, closing, motions, objections. Their witness will be their teammate (i.e., each student is an attorney on one side of the case and a witness on the other). Each team gets 6 preliminary round trials. Thus, each advocate gets 3 preliminary round trials. Consistent with our goal of creating opportunities for students who might not otherwise be able to compete, participation is limited to J.D. candidates who are not competing as advocates in TYLA’s NTC or AAJ’s STAC in 2024 (and who have not competed as advocates in those events previously). Coaches will judge preliminary trials. Each competing team must provide one coach-judge per preliminary round. (We used this approach at the Premiere and Amicus Cup and got great feedback about the quality of judging and post-trial comments.) Outside judges will judge playoff rounds. You may apply to enter multiple teams. Registration is $300 per team.
