EndNote is a reference manager that helps you save time formatting citations, so you can focus on your research.

Install EndNote

Install on a Drexel-owned PC

  Note: If you're working from off campus, you'll need to connect to Drexel's Virtual Private Network (VPN) before you can install EndNote from Software Center.

  1. Do one of the following, depending on which version of Windows is running on your PC:
    • In Windows 11, select Start  > All apps > Software Center.
    • In Windows 10, select Start  > Microsoft Endpoint Manager > Software Center.
  2. Under Applications, select EndNote 21 > Install.

      Note: EndNote is automatically activated when you install the app from Software Center.

Install on a Drexel-owned Mac

  1. Go to Finder > Applications > Self Service.
  2. Sign in with Drexel Connect.
  3. Under Browse, select All.
  4. Locate EndNote 21 and select Install.

      Note: EndNote is automatically activated when you install the app from Self Service.

Install and activate on a personal-owned PC

  1. Download the EndNote installer from OnTheHub. For more info, see Download software from OnTheHub.
  2. Once the download has completed, double-click (or double-tap) the downloaded installer.
  3. If you see the User Account Control prompt that says, Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?, select Yes. You might need to enter an administrator username and password.
  4. On the first installation screen, select Next to begin the installation process.
  5. Enter your license key from OnTheHub, and then select Next.
  6. Complete your user information and select Next.
  7. On the next installation screen, select Next.
  8. Review the end user license agreement. Select I accept the license agreement to agree to the license terms, and then select Next.
  9. Choose how you want to install EndNote, and then select Next.

      Note: If you want to install specific application features, select Custom, and then select Next.

  10. Review the install location or change your install location, and then select Next.
  11. Select Next to begin the installation.
  12. Select Finish when the installation is finished.

Install and activate on a personal-owned Mac

  1. Download the EndNote installer from OnTheHub. For more info, see Download software from OnTheHub.
  2. Once the download has completed, double-click the downloaded installer.
  3. Double-click Install EndNote 21.app.

    Tip: If you see a prompt that says, "Install EndNote 21.app" is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?, select Open.

  4. Select Install.
  5. If prompted to allow EndNote to access data from other apps, select Allow.
  6. On the first installation screen, select Next to begin the installation process.
  7. Enter your license key from OnTheHub, and then select Next.
  8. Complete your user information and select Next.
  9. On the next installation screen, select Next.
  10. Review the end user license agreement. Select I accept the license agreement to agree to the license terms, and then select Next.
  11. Choose the components that you want to install, and then select Next.
  12. Enter your Mac login password, if prompted, and then select OK.
  13. Select Done when the installation is finished.
