Make a test call, Record your Voicemail Greeting, Learn your Phone Number
- Use the dial pad to make a test call. When making calls, dial 10 digits (area code - nnn - nnnn), the same way you operate your mobile phone. Try calling 215-895-2000.
- Under Settings, navigate to Voicemail to record your greetings. To find the settings menu, click your avatar (the round icon in the upper left-hand corner of the app with your initials).
- If you have been assigned a new phone number, you will find your 10 digit telephone number in the Settings menu, under Profile.
Note: If your existing Drexel telephone number is being moved from your campus phone to your Vonage Service (a telephone company process called number "porting"), for about two weeks you will see a temporary 10-digit telephone number assigned to your Vonage account. Don't share or publish this temporary number, as it will soon be replaced by your actual Drexel telephone number. While waiting for your telephone number to be "ported", your incoming calls will be forwarded by the Drexel PBX to your temporary Vonage number. As a result, no one needs to dial your temporary number. After "porting" is completed, the temporary number will be replaced in the Vonage VBC app by your Drexel number.
When you make outgoing calls (outside of the Vonage system) your caller Name and number ID will appear as "Drexel University 215-895-2000". Your name and Drexel phone number will not be shown to the called party. The Vonage caller-ID behavior operates the same way the University's legacy campus phone system operates.

911 EMERGENCY CALLS
WHEN MAKING AN EMERGENCY CALL YOU SHOULD KNOW:
|
When calling 911 from a your VBC app running on your mobile phone, the VBC app will initiate the call to 911 using your native mobile phone service and native dialing platform. In this case, your location information provided to the 911 service centers will be the information provided by your cell phone provider. Some cell phone providers require that you update your own location information for emergency services purposes.
When calling 911 from a VBC application (virtual soft phone) running on your computer or mobile device not equipped with cell phone or locations services, you may be prompted by an emergency service operator to provide your location information. The information you provide will be used to route your call to the correct 911 service center. Always inform the 911 operator of your current address location.

* Note: The caller number display was changed to 215-895-2000 on 4/21/2021.
