Timeline and Deadlines

The study abroad application process may seem daunting, but as long as you stick with our suggested timeline, you'll be right on track to submit your application on time. It's ideal to start planning 12-18 months ahead for a full term study abroad program. Outlined below are the steps you will need to take at specific marks prior to your application deadline:

  • 18 months before departure: attend a Study Abroad 101 session and talk to your academic advisor about studying abroad.
  • 12 months before departure: review programs online, narrow down your program of choice, and email studyabroad@drexel.edu to set up an appointment with a study abroad advisor to open your application.
  • Application process: to complete your application, you will need to submit an essay and short answer questions, 2 recommendations, a course approval form, and submit your scholarship applications.
  • *Application deadlines:
    Fall Term March 1
    Winter Term August 1
    Spring Term September 1
    Summer Term  February 1
  • 2-4 weeks after deadline: decisions will be made and post decision materials will release

*Please note that we often extend deadlines for programs with capacity. Check back closer to the deadline to see if your program of interest has been extended!
