Physical Safety

With exposures to physical hazards in the work environment, your physical safety may be at risk. A physical hazard is an agent, factor or circumstance that can cause an injury. Some physical hazards include noise, electricity, power tools, machines, ergonomics, heat, radiation, cold and vibrations.

Researchers may be exposed to physical hazards on a daily basis. These hazards can cause short term or long term injuries. Individuals working in a laboratory must be aware of the potential for injury from physical hazards. The Principal Investigator must communicate the hazards and provide site-specific training. Training must be documented and uploaded to BioRAFT.

Researchers may be exposed to the following physical hazards while work in the laboratory.
