Campus Plan

Drexel University continues to advance and adapt its Campus Plan in accordance with its Strategic Plan vision to "design the future through the innovative integration of education, scholarship, diverse partnerships, and our global community.”

The Campus Plan developed for Drexel by Goody Clancy in 2012 was envisioned as a living document, flexible enough to accommodate new and changing conditions. In 2022, President Fry charged Drexel Real Estate and Facilities with producing a plan update, in collaboration with the Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation, that envisions the character and scope of campus through 2041, the 150th anniversary of the founding of Drexel. The goals of the plan update are to:

  • Create a framework of growth to foster a more vibrant and enriching educational environment for our students, faculty, staff and neighbors.
  • Align with the Drexel 2030 Strategic Plan.
  • Consolidate strong ideas from the various recent planning efforts and design studies into a single, cohesive document.
  • Envision the “future state” of the Drexel campus based on zoning, land use, programmatic and facility improvement needs.
  • Integrate the campus – both physically and programmatically – with the private investment that the University has succeeded in bringing to University City.
  • Create a more seamless, walkable campus that features both its urban character and its pedestrian-oriented character, adding streetside activity along with more green open space.

Very much in keeping with the original campus plan principles, the plan update envisions a campus whose icons, landscapes, streetscapes, buildings and landmarks communicate the values and core identity of the University – a welcoming, inclusive and innovative campus with porous borders that invites our neighbors and partners to share in our presence in University City.
