Biological Safety

The University’s biological safety program establishes facility requirements and work practices to protect the health and safety of students, faculty and staff, and meet regulatory requirements that are required by Occupational safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The guidelines have been prepared to provide guidance to work with potentially hazardous microbial agents, animals and other hazardous biologicals recombinant DNA molecules and the proper use of biological safety cabinets and laminar flow hoods.

The University’s Biological Safety Office (BSO) is Jonathan Chase who is the Executive Director of EHRS. The BSO is responsible for the implementation of the policy recommended by the Drexel University UBSC.
