Now enrolling students for Fall 2020, the Drexel University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is proud to announce our latest innovative graduate program, the Master's of Science in Machine Learning Engineering.

Is your traditional professional field of science and engineering being transformed, like so many others, via applications of machine learning? According to Indeed.com, job postings for Machine Learning Engineers have grown 344% from 2015-2018. Do you want to become the engineer your organization turns to in order to best leverage its data? Are you interested in enabling the coming wave of automation of all varieties? Are you looking to understand machine learning techniques at a deeper level? If you answered yes to any of these questions, a Machine Learning Engineering Master’s degree from Drexel University’s College of Engineering can provide the doorway to success.

Developed in response to the rapid rise of careers in machine learning, the MS in Machine Learning Engineering leverages Drexel’s strengths in engineering education, cooperative education, and as a Carnegie R1 Research Intensive university. The degree program has been crafted with working professionals in mind, with the freedom to select from courses available both in person and online. Your courses will be taught by experts conducting world-leading research in the development and applications of machine learning.

With a master’s degree in machine learning engineering from Drexel University, you will learn a wide variety of knowledge and skills vital to machine learning engineers. Your degree will benefit from explicit exposure to three important pillars of machine learning knowledge: fundamentals, implementation, and real-world applications.

Fundamentals: You will garner deep understanding of the underpinnings of modern machine learning, enabling you to innovate new learning frameworks and algorithms yourself. By leveraging the deeper understanding of fundamental principles from statistics, optimization, and information processing this engineering rooted degree provides, not only will you be able to develop successful solutions, you will be able to design the learning architectures that are best suited to a given problem.

Implementation: Integrating industry-leading software tools, including Keras, TensorFlow, and scikit-learn, you will learn to rapidly prototype machine learning systems. Those students interested in novel computing architectures for machine learning will leverage cutting edge results in courses taught by elite researchers in this subject.

Applications: You will benefit from classes taught by world-leading research experts in machine learning applications such as music understanding, image and video authentication, intelligent wireless systems, robotics, cell and tissue image analysis, genomics and bioinformatics.

The degree program leverages a long history of producing machine learning experts. Graduates of Drexel’s Electrical and Computer Engineering department have obtained positions in machine learning engineering and data science in diverse fields ranging from business analytics and healthcare to finance and defense, as well as at elite tech companies such as Facebook, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft.

Research Option

The degree program includes an option to become involved, via thesis research, in Drexel ECE’s world-class research groups and laboratories, including:
