New Federal Rules Would Limit Sugar in School Meals for First Time

Shiriki Kumanyika, PhD, a research professor in the Dornsife School of Public Health and founding chair of the Council on Black Health, was quoted in a Feb. 3 Associated Press story about the U.S. Department of Agriculture proposing new nutrition standards for school meals, including the first limits on added sugars. The story was picked up by dozens of outlets, including the Philadelphia Inquirer, PBS Newshour, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, MarketWatch, U.S. News & World Report, USA Today, MSN News, thegrio, and a number of local television affiliates.
