Spring Move-out Instructions

The following includes information regarding what residents need to know about moving out of the residence halls at the end of the academic year (spring term). If moving out of Stiles Hall, refer to the Stiles Hall term switch for more information.

Move-out Timeline

Spring quarter 2023 move-out begins Friday, June 9, 2023. Residents who do not have a summer residential assignment must plan to be completely moved out and checked out by 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Extensions are not permitted. A late check-out fee will be assessed for check-out envelopes received after 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023. If you leave campus without returning your key, you will be assessed a lock-change fee; you cannot mail your key back to Drexel. Moving carts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis; please visit the front desk of your residence hall to check out a moving cart.

Steps to Move-out/Check-out

Complete online maintenance requests via DrexelOne to resolve issues in your room. Refrigerators must be emptied of personal items and remain plugged in (if Drexel owned). Pack and remove all personal belongings from your room, kitchen, and common areas: double-check drawers, closets, and corners carefully. Items left behind in the room will be discarded. Do not leave personal belongings in the hallway unattended. Remove all trash and recyclable items to designated locations. Do not leave trash in the hallway.

Clean and sweep/vacuum your room, suite, kitchens, and common areas, where applicable. Remove message boards, door tags, posters, and tape from your door(s) and walls. Close and lock your windows and door (but remember to bring your DragonCard and key with you!). Close window blinds. Turn off the lights. Complete a check-out envelope at the front desk of your residence hall (or Van Renneslaer Hall if you reside in a fraternity/sorority house) and return your key.

Check-Out

You must complete a check-out envelope and submit your key at the front desk of your residence hall (Van Renneslaer Hall, if you reside in a fraternity/sorority house). Submit your check-out envelope in the key drop box at the front desk of your residence hall (Van Renneslaer Hall, if you reside in a fraternity/sorority house) no later than 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, to avoid assessment of a late fee.

Loading Zones

There will be loading zones available around the residential neighborhood. Temporary 'No Parking' signs will be posted in the designated loading zones. Drexel Public Safety personnel will direct traffic and patrol the loading zones. To accommodate as many students and families as possible, Public Safety asks families to limit load time to 30 minutes.

Parking

For parking options (non-loading-zone options) on the University City Campus, you can view some options on the Drexel Parking Services website , or utilize a parking location website like Spot Hero to find parking that works for you.

Moving Carts

Moving carts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis; please visit the front desk of your residence hall to check out a moving cart. A DragonCard or valid government-issued photo identification card is required to check out a moving cart. Students can check out one moving cart and must return the cart to the original pick-up location.

Room Damages

Residents are financially responsible for any damages, missing items, or unsatisfactory conditions in their room. Review the Damage/Vandalism section of the Code of Conduct Residential Facilities Policies for more information.

Trash and Recycling

Trash and recyclables must be placed in bins located inside or near trash rooms on residential floors. There will be designated areas for trash and cardboard. Please observe signage as posted.

Mail Service

The University will not forward mail to off-campus locations. Students are responsible for notifying potential senders (banks, creditors, family, etc.) when they vacate a room to provide an updated mailing address. Review the instructions for updating personal information via DrexelOne.

Term Break Housing

Term Break Housing is ONLY available to students with both a spring and a summer housing assignment who are eligible to participate in a term switch. There is no fee for Term Break Housing. Students who do NOT have a summer housing assignment must move out on Saturday, June 17, 2023.

Summer Storage Service

Drexel has contracted with University and Student Services (USS) for a custom summer storage service. USS is the only approved vendor allowed to deliver your stored items to your residence hall room or ACC apartment before you arrive in the fall. If you need to have your belongings stored for the summer months, please refer to USS Summer Storage for more information.
