Apply for the GSA Graduate Student Domestic Travel Subsidy Award
June 30, 2023
On behalf of the 2023-2024 Executive Board of the Graduate Student Association, we are pleased to announce that the application for the GSA Graduate Student Domestic Travel Subsidy Award application is now open for travel between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.
Please Note: There are significant changes to the travel subsidy award program this year due to limited funding available. Please review the website in its entirety prior to beginning an application, especially if you have applied for and/or received an award in previous years.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a current Drexel graduate student enrolled full-time (or part-time) in a doctoral or master's degree program at the time of application and of presentation at the meeting/conference*
- Must be in good academic standing (term and cumulative GPA is 3.00 or higher)
- Must be invited to present an oral research presentation or talk at a meeting or conference within the United States and territories**
- Must complete the application with all required materials at least three weeks prior to the first day of travel or first day of the meeting or conference, whichever comes first (some exceptions will be made for early July travel pending proof of financial need)
- Students are eligible for one award per fiscal year (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024)
*A small number of part-time and online students may be eligible per availability of funds; however, priority will be given to full-time on-campus students who contribute student activity fees.
**At this time, we are not accepting applications for research poster presentations due to limited funding available. Students intending to attend international meetings and conferences should apply for the Global Engagement Funding through Drexel Global.
Award Details & Evaluation Criteria
A maximum of $800 will be awarded in the form of reimbursement and based on the evaluation criteria listed on the website. Applications must be complete and include all required, accurate and well-written materials, including a compelling letter of support from a faculty member who MUST list any other available sources of funding and/or justify the student’s financial need for this award. Priority will be given to students with little or no other funding sources for travel and who would not be able to attend the meeting or conference without this travel subsidy award.
