STEM Support & Student Success Services
The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation at Drexel University or Drexel-LSAMP is part of a national effort to increase the number of underrepresented minority (URM) students who successfully complete baccalaureate and advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. Funding for the LSAMP program is provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Drexel-LSAMP partners with University staff, faculty, undergraduate/graduate students and other stakeholders with an interest in supporting URM-STEM communities to:
- Promote academic preparation, agility and resilience in pursuit of academic excellence among undergraduates
- Facilitate participation in co-curricular opportunities that build social capital, expand students’ support networks and enhance their competitiveness for future continued participation in the greater STEM community
- Link students to scholarship and other funding resources
Services
- Academic Coaching
- Workshops, panel discussions, professional development seminars and other on-campus events
- Financial support for undergraduate research, conferences and other co-curricular opportunities (subject to eligibility and availability)
- Peer Mentorship
Eligibility
Students meeting all of the following criteria are eligible to participate in Drexel University's Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation:
- Citizens or Permanent Residents of the United States
- Members of one or more of the following under-represented ethnic minority categories—Black/African American, Latin/Hispanic American, Native American/Alaskan/Indigenous, or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander
- Undergraduates actively enrolled in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline
Members with active standing in the program are asked to meet with the Drexel-LSAMP Director at least once per term to review academic and developmental progress as well as attend two enrichment events per term enrolled.
