
Akem S. Ojong is an educator, researcher, and author from Cameroon in Central Africa, currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Education at Drexel University’s School of Education. She serves as a research assistant with the ILLEST Lab under the supervision of Dr. Kareem Edouard and as a member of the Drexel University Conduct Board. Her research focuses on advancing social justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA) in education, with a special emphasis on equitable educational and technological opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Global North. Through her scholarship, Akem explores how educational policies, cultural dynamics, and emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, can be leveraged to promote fairness and inclusion in under-resourced and marginalized communities. As an author and writer, Akem has written several journal manuscripts and articles that amplify the voices of the voiceless and expose the inequalities and disparities that persist within educational systems. With over nine years of teaching experience, she is passionate about using education as a tool for transformation, empowerment, and justice. Committed to bridging educational and digital divides, Akem strives to create inclusive, equitable, and human-centered learning environments that enable all learners to thrive, regardless of their background, gender, or socioeconomic status.
