Given the unprecedented nature of this disruption, the Provost and the EVPR of Research & Innovation have suspended on-campus, non-critical research activities effective March 18th. Guidance on what research activities are deemed critical can be found on this page. Given this public health emergency, the following actions must be taken by the users of ULAR facilities by March 18, 2020:

• Delay new animal experiments until the EVPR issues a statement resuming on-campus, non-critical research activities

• No new:

  • animal orders, imports or exports should occur

  • ABSL2 work or hazardous chemical work should occur

  • surgeries should occur

  • long-term studies be initiated

• Reduce:

  • cage census to minimum number of animals (i.e. cull all non-critical animals)

  • breeding to only non-commercially available animals

  • breeding to only numbers required to conserve the line

• Critical animals in static cages will be transferred to ventilated racks

• Non-critical animals should be euthanized by individual research labs
