Principal investigators (PIs) are responsible for proposal preparation

  • Prepare technical proposal, including biosketches and all components required by the sponsor.
  • Identify and obtain documentation from subcontractors external to Drexel.
  • Identify other administrative requirements (e.g. subcontracting plan).
  • Prepare proposal budget.
  • Identify and address any space requirements, and discuss with department chair and/or dean how these needs will be met.
  • Identify sources of any required cost sharing.
  • Assemble proposal.
  • Provide a complete, copy-ready proposal to the pre-award administrator three business days before the sponsor due date.

Office of Research & Innovation Professional Staff Responsibilities

  • Provide information and assistance with completion of administrative information.
  • Provide information and guidance on sponsor and University cost-sharing requirements.
  • Review proposal for conformity to sponsor and University requirements.
  • Determine validity of protocol information provided.
  • Determine that the PI is in compliance with conflict of interest requirements.
  • Review budget – both sponsor and cost shared.
  • Provide institutional signature.
