The American Medical Women's Association is an organization, which functions at the local, national and international level to advance women in medicine and improve women's health. We achieve this by providing and developing leadership, advocacy, education, expertise, mentoring and strategic alliances. The College of Medicine chapter of AMWA executes several events each year to meet these goals and allows female students to connect with faculty members and each other.

The Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association (APAMSA) is a national organization of medical and pre-medical students committed to addressing the unique health challenges of Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) communities. APAMSA serves as a forum for student leaders to engage these health issues and develop initiatives and projects addressing those needs. The local, regional, and national activities of APAMSA aim to promote the health of the APIA community and help healthcare workers understand how to care for APIA patients in a culturally sensitive manner. Finally, APAMSA provides an important venue for medical students to meet, exchange experiences, and develop personally and professionally through leadership and service.

Drexel Black Doctors Network's main goal is to provide an opportunity for students to become proactive in networking and building long-lasting relationships with mentors. According to AAMC, only 4% of practicing physicians are African American. This statistic directly correlates with the number of black students currently attending Drexel University College of Medicine. Opportunities for shadowing, mentoring, and research opportunities can be difficult for URM students to obtain. Allowing students to pair with physicians of similar ethnic background who have gone through the rigorous process of medical school and applying for residencies, will better prepare us for our professional goals. Black Doctors Network will provide a resource for fellow African American students to maximize their opportunities and gain exposure to different fields of medicine. Through enacting this mission, Black Doctors Network will serve as a resource to address health disparities and underrepresentation in medicine.

The Catholic Medical Association is a national, physician-led community of healthcare professionals that informs, organizes, and inspires its members, in steadfast fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church, to uphold the principles of the Catholic faith in the science and practice of medicine. The organization is open to Catholics along with anyone interested or curious in learning more about Catholicism. The College of Medicine CMA is a student section of the organization that provides an environment for students and staff to be able to freely discuss and learn more about the Catholic faith as well as create a community for students to grow in their faith or rekindle it and understand how it can be applied in today's practice.

Filipino-American Medical Students Association (FAMSA) aims to build a community of individuals interested in the exploration of Philippine culture including, but not limited to, language, food, and history. Furthermore, FAMSA will provide a space to discuss issues affecting this community and explore ways for students of the College of Medicine to be involved in the Greater Philadelphia Community.

Drexel University College of Medicine Mesa de Español is a group that provides student the ability to practice their Spanish speaking and listening skills. This group will meet once a week and provide a relaxed environment for people at all levels of Spanish speaking ability to come and "charlar" (chat). We will discuss any number of topics, ranging from movies to vacation destinations, allowing members the opportunity to learn new vocabulary and expressions.

Drexel Muslim Student Association serves to bring awareness about the Muslim community in the healthcare field at large. The Muslim Student Association will also serve to foster a sense of community among students and will be facilitating events around the Muslim holidays (i.e Iftars during Ramadan).

SAMSA is an organization with the goal of spreading awareness of and sharing South Asian culture with the students of the College of Medicine community. We are a student-led group that represents the countries of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Our mission is to create an environment for both faculty and students of South Asian descent, and those interested in South Asian culture to celebrate and encounter others of similar interests and backgrounds. It is also our hope for medical students and faculty to learn about the traditions, food, and culture of the region, and participate in ethnic events that allow exploration and experience of the rich culture of South Asia. Through our various traditional events, discussions, talks/presentations, and performances, we hope to foster cultural understanding.

SNMA is built on the core values of academic excellence, community service, and advocacy. We work to give back to the community and mentor students who are underrepresented in medicine.

We support members of the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) chapters at Drexel University and Cheyney University, encouraging them to pursue medicine and attend the Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC).

Participating in SNMA gives DUCOM students an opportunity to network with peers who share their interest in increasing the number of culturally competent, socially conscious, and clinically excellent physicians in the medical field.

SNMA strives to:

• Take a proactive role in the recruitment and retention of students from diverse backgrounds,
• Increase awareness and address the needs of underrepresented medical and pre-medical students,
• Increase awareness and address the needs of underserved communities in Philadelphia and around the U.S.

Our mission is to provide a networking platform for female medical students to gain exposure to the surgical field by meeting female surgeons in the region. With this platform, students can learn more about opportunities in the surgical field. Through professional networking opportunities, clinical skills workshops and panels the interest group will provide female students with the resources to succeed in their career choice and engage with other aspiring female surgeons in the area. By fostering an environment of opportunity and inclusion, we aim to encourage greater female representation in the surgical field.
