Todd Strochlic, VMD, PhD, Appointed Assistant Dean of Curricular Integration

Todd Strochlic, VMD, PhD, has been appointed as assistant dean of curricular integration, Drexel University College of Medicine. He will oversee the complex management of the medical education curriculum with a focus on Year 2 and will play a key role in ensuring alignment and integration across the Philadelphia and West Reading campuses.

Dr. Strochlic brings a wealth of experience in medical education to his new role, having demonstrated exceptional leadership in curriculum development and delivery. He currently serves as an associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, where he co-directs several key courses including “Molecules to Organs.” Additionally, he serves as the biochemistry thread director and as chair of the MD Admissions Committee.

His dedication to enhancing the student experience is evident through his leadership as past chair of the Educational Coordinating Committee, panelist in Phase 1 town halls and Year 2 forums, and his engagement with faculty to ensure integrated and student-centered learning. Dr. Strochlic has received four Golden Apple awards for teaching and was the recipient of the Angelo Pinto Basic Science Educator Award in 2020. He completed the Faculty Launch leadership program in 2023, was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in 2024, and was selected as a Harvard Macy Scholar for the 2024-2025 Program for Educators in Health Professions.

His extensive educational background includes a Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where his research focused on regulated protein sorting in the endosomal system. He holds two bachelor's degrees with honors from Brown University, in Biology and Classics (Latin).

In his new role, Dr. Strochlic will also be instrumental in the LCME accreditation process, working closely with senior leadership to ensure the College of Medicine’s curriculum meets the highest standards. His collaborative approach will continue to foster excellence in medical education, integrate basic sciences with clinical skills, and enhance the overall student experience.
