Cecilia M. Smith, DO, professor and interim academic chair, Department of Medicine, Drexel University College of Medicine, has been appointed associate dean, Tower Health Regional Campus on April 10, 2024.

Dr. Smith recently served as chair of the Department of Medicine, Reading Hospital, Tower Health (2004-2022). She graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1976 and completed the Internal Medicine Residency program at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital of Philadelphia. She then spent one year in a pulmonary medicine fellowship at the Tufts University Program at Faulkner Hospital. She subsequently completed a clinical and research fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of California, San Diego. She joined the faculty of UCSD School of Medicine as an assistant professor, advancing to professor of medicine by the time of her relocation to Reading Hospital.

Dr. Smith’s tenure at Reading Hospital as chair and her leadership in the College’s Department of Medicine make her ideally suited to ensure a smooth transition for the campus’s faculty, professional staff and students.
