PA Breast Cancer Coalition Awards $100,000 Grant to Mauricio Reginato, PhD

On Thursday, April 27, 2023, the PA Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC) presented a $100,000 grant to Mauricio Reginato, PhD, professor and interim chair in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, and director of the Graduate Program in Cancer Biology.

Dr. Reginato, a 2015 PBCC grant recipient, and his team plan to use the grant to study breast cancer that has spread of metastasized to the brain. Brain metastases develop when cancer cells spread from a primary breast tumor to the central nervous system. His research will focus on examining new pathways that regulate how cancers survive in the brain and testing new drugs to see if they will kill the cancer cells without toxicity.
