The first cohort of Drexel University College of Medicine third-year medical students participating in a new partnership with Kaiser Permanente in Northern California have reported for duty.

Twelve third-year medical students from the College packed their bags this summer and headed out to California to begin a year of clinical rotations at Kaiser Permanente medical centers in Sacramento, South Sacramento, Roseville, and Vallejo. They will do rotations in pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, surgery, psychiatry, family medicine, and internal medicine.

"This partnership with Kaiser Permanente in the Sacramento area will be an outstanding educational experience for our students," said Barbara Schindler, MD, professor and vice dean for educational and academic affairs. "This opportunity will help to create a stronger physician workforce and will further develop essential skills that are needed for the next generation of healthcare practitioners and leaders."
