Accelerated Pathways: Three-Year Programs, Workforce Needs, and Access to Opportunities (IDEAS)

Tuesday, December 15, 2026

2:00 PM-3:00 PM

Three-year accelerated MD programs have grown in visibility as a potential lever for accelerating workforce entry and reducing trainee debt burden. Yet just 35 out of 176 AAMC-member medical schools have a three-year accelerated program, and most enroll only 5-7 students, raising important questions about scalability, selectivity, and access to opportunity. This webinar convenes program leaders from institutions across the country to examine curriculum design, learner selection, outcomes data, and the structural supports needed for students to thrive.

This webinar is the third and final in the series, "Pathways to Medicine: Evolving Practices and Innovations." This three-part series, developed in partnership with Drexel University College of Medicine, brings together pathway program directors, educators, and administrators from institutions across the country to examine emerging evidence and share promising practices that support the growth of a physician and biomedical workforce that reflects and responds to the communities it serves.
