Lunch & Learn: Improving Interprofessional Communication to Reduce Conflicting Caregiver Guidance
Thursday, June 25, 2026
12:00 PM-1:00 PM
Please join the Division of Global, Interprofessional, and Specialized Programming for a free Lunch & Learn Continuing Education program with Julie Quinlan, PhD, MS, CPO, ATC, FAAOP.
Caregivers frequently receive recommendations from multiple healthcare professionals, each bringing valuable but often different perspectives and priorities. Variations in communication styles, terminology, and treatment goals can unintentionally create confusion, increase stress, and affect adherence to care plans.
This interactive Lunch & Learn will explore findings related to provider communication challenges and engage participants in interactive activities designed to examine how different disciplines approach patient care. Participants will reflect on discipline-specific priorities, identify potential sources of conflicting guidance, and discuss strategies for improving collaborative, caregiver-centered communication.
Participants will:
- Explore how professional perspectives influence recommendations
- Identify common sources of conflicting guidance
- Discuss communication strategies across disciplines
- Examine approaches to collaborative caregiver-centered care
