Steven Kutalek, MD, is director of cardiac electrophysiology and associate chief of the Division of Cardiology. He is a national expert in lead extraction, which is the removal of one or more leads or wires that deliver energy from a pacemaker or implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). Dr. Kutalek places in the top tier in the U.S. for the number of lead extractions successfully performed. He serves as a consultant for device companies for future lead technology.

His specialties include pacemakers and new defibrillators, the metabolic aspects of rate-responsive cardiac pacing, and antiarrhythmic medications.

Steven Kutalek, MD, is a professor emeritus in the Departments of Medicine (Division of Cardiology) and Pharmacology & Physiology. He is director of clinical cardiac electrophysiology for Drexel University College of Medicine and previously ran a successful Electrophysiology Fellowship program that included six fellows in training.
