Nathan R. Shively, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine.
Shively has been a force for antimicrobial stewardship, which reduces the inappropriate use of antimicrobials to minimize adverse drug events, lower rates of C. diff infection and reduce drug resistance, within the Allegheny Health Network and beyond. He co-developed a telehealth-based model for antimicrobial stewardship to train non-infectious disease experts in this valuable skill. He has also piloted outpatient antimicrobial stewardship programs, published key findings and presented widely on the topic.
