Ben Hur Hill Aguilar, MD, is an internal medicine physician who provides primary care services to adults ages 18 and older. He is also an associate program director for the Bayhealth Internal Medicine Residency, and medical director and Ambulatory Clerkship director for Bayhealth Internal Medicine Continuity Clinic and Ambulatory Care in Milford, Delaware.

Experiencing common childhood illnesses and being exposed to frequent doctor visits is what piqued Dr. Aguilar’s interest in pursuing medicine. He enjoyed and excelled in science, and as the youngest in a large, extended family, always had an affinity for older people. Going into internal medicine was a perfect fit for him. It allows him to take care of adults and help them manage their conditions and stay healthy as they age.

Dr. Aguilar treats each patient as if they are a friend or family member needing help — and provides the utmost care and attention. Seeing patients recover from their illnesses and grow healthy is a priceless experience for him. He is a strong advocate for preventive medicine, including vaccinations and screenings. He also has a passion for helping people with a range of health care needs, including the elderly, culturally diverse individuals and members of the LGBTQ community.

Aside from practicing primary care, Dr. Aguilar also embarked on a journey in academic medicine blending clinical practice with teaching. He is an active faculty member for undergraduate and graduate medical. He is currently the medical director for the Continuity Practice for the Bayhealth Internal Medicine Residency, where he supervises medical students, interns and residents.

Outside of his work, Dr. Aguilar enjoys traveling, cooking and hosting friends over for dinner. He loves caring for his many plants and his beloved fur babies — a golden retriever named Buddy and a Bernese mountain dog named Pancake.
