During summer 2025, I participated in the Dornsife Global Development Scholar (DGDS) program through the Drexel School of Public Health and spent eight weeks in rural Tanzania conducting global health research. In collaboration with World Vision Tanzania and under the supervision of Dr. Idris Robinson, I led a school-based survey examining hygiene practices and student-reported skin concerns among students with varying access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene resources. The project emphasized community engagement and cultural sensitivity, with surveys administered in English and Swahili. This experience strengthened my interest in dermatology, global health, and health equity, and reinforced my commitment to community-centered research in underserved settings. The DGDS program offers students hands-on research experience, meaningful community partnerships, and the opportunity to see how global and public health work translates into real-world impact.
