Peru: Maximo Nivel
Summer 2015

"I volunteered for two weeks through an organization called ‘Maximo Nivel’ which placed me into an underserved health clinic in the outer province of Cuzco in Peru. The health clinic was named 'Santa Rosa' and it served the severely under resourced population of rural Cuzco, providing urgent care, obstetrics, pediatric consultations and periodic physical exams.

"Throughout my volunteer experience I helped with basic first aid, wound cleaning, minor suturing and obstetrics. The majority of my experience, however, was spent in neonatal care, the vaccination clinic and baby wellness checkups.

"I lived with a Peruvian host family and the experience was 100% Spanish immersion, so it was an incredible opportunity to assimilate to the beautiful Peruvian culture and practice my Spanish skills!"
