"I attended a medial Spanish immersion program in Ecuador through Cachamsi Medical Spanish Institute. While I was there, I worked in the pediatric ward of a general hospital. One particularly heartwarming moment happened when we were walking back for lunch from the pediatric ward around the same time the children were getting out from school, and we noticed a few looking back at us in our white coats. They asked if we were doctors and we told them we were medical students from America and let them try using our stethoscopes.
"On my last day in Riobamba, I rented a bike at a small shop in town. The owner drove me up Chimborazo, the highest mountain in Ecuador, and I rode down. I wrote a piece "Perspectives from the Bike: A Look at an Ecuadorian Hospital" which was selected to be published in the online peer-review magazine, in-Training."
