Showcase your Specialty: Shadowing Opportunities Needed for 3rd Year Clinical Medical Students

Your time and expertise are needed!

A new Career Exploration Clerkship has been launched for our third-year medical students. This is a first-of-its-kind opportunity to provide students with invaluable exposure to disciplines outside of their core 3rd year clerkships, enabling them to make earlier and more informed decisions about their future paths, and help them to develop a broader understanding of the medical profession.

We need your time and expertise! Please volunteer to provide opportunities for third-year medical students to shadow you in the hospital, in your office, in a clinic, or anywhere else where they can observe you in your clinical work.

What’s Involved:

  • This is a shadowing/observation experience only
  • No obligation for you to teach or evaluate the student (this is welcomed, but not necessary)
  • Any amount of time you can offer is welcome -- one morning or afternoon a month or several days each month, or even evening or weekend hours
  • Open to opportunities nationwide, not limited to the Greater Philadelphia area
  • Every opportunity you can offer will contribute greatly to our students’ specialty exploration
  • You only need to sign off, confirming the students’ attendance at shadowing sessions
  • College of Medicine medical students have malpractice and liability insurance

Benefits to You:

  • Engagement with medical students who are eager to learn from you
  • Opportunity to share your specialty knowledge and provide advice to medical students who may follow in your footsteps
  • A College of Medicine faculty appointment (e.g. Assistant Professor)
  • Access to Drexel library resources
  • College of Medicine Course Faculty Certificate
