The Biden administration recently launched its new “Birthing-Friendly” hospital designation to recognize high-quality maternity care. Many of the hospitals recognized are affiliated with the College of Medicine as clinical education sites and we congratulate them for their excellence. The new designation aims to improve outcomes, as 80 percent of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable, with concerning disparities among racial and ethnic minority groups. (November 2023)
