  • 3rd year (MS3) spend one year of core clinical rotations.
  • 4th year (MS4) have access to core clinical rotations after a selection process. Elective rotations and sub-internships are also offered.
  • 4 hospitals, 12 medical office buildings, 5 mental health buildings, 24-hour urgent care and cancer center
  • Complete range of general and specialty medical services, including an advanced heart care/stroke center, a comprehensive cancer center, bariatric surgery center, facial feminization surgery center, Center of Excellence for total joint surgery and memory clinic.

This is an integrated program where students rotate across Kaiser Permanente Greater Southern Alameda Area (GSAA) and Kaiser Permanente Diablo Service Area (DSA) Medical Centers.

The program offers students an opportunity to learn within our health care system. Our Health Plan members are ethnically, socially and demographically diverse, with the largest number of non-English native languages spoken anywhere in Northern California. Students have the opportunity to learn from a diverse group of patients, physician faculty and staff members.

Cecilia M. Smith, DO, associate dean of the Tower Health Regional Campus, professor and interim academic chair, Wei Du, MD, a professor and chair, and students Alexis Price-Moyer and Josette Graves, all of the College of Medicine, were quoted in a feature in The Philadelphia Inquirer about how the college’s expanding network of medical school campuses allows students to train all over the country. The Biden administration recently launched its new “Birthing-Friendly” hospital designation to recognize high-quality maternity care. Many of the hospitals recognized are affiliated with the College of Medicine as clinical education sites and we congratulate them for their excellence. The new designation aims to improve outcomes, as 80 percent of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable, with concerning disparities among racial and ethnic minority groups. (November 2023)
