Road to Healthcare Project
These students focused on how lack of reliable transportation can be a barrier to health. One student wrote the following about their project:
"We approached commuters and asked whether they had ever missed a train, bus, or subway on the way to a medical appointment and how it affected them. We talked to thirty people, and around 25% of them said yes. Hearing someone say, “I missed my bus to my cardiology appointment and had to wait another month,” hit me harder than any statistic from the research article. We gathered quotes from each person who responded with yes, and decided to put the 3 most impactful ones in our pamphlet. The most important thing I learned from this activity was that lived experience is data, and it is just as valuable as academic research.”
