Academics
The above phrase is the motto of the Office of University & Community Partnerships (UCP), and it articulates the ways in which civic engagement is integrated into academic experiences at Drexel University. Whether through courses, research, or clinical work, civic engagement deepens the learning experience, promotes relationships between students and community members and supports students in developing their knowledge, skills, and motivation for solving some of the greatest civic issues of our time.
In this section of our website you can learn more about courses that are offered at Drexel, including the “Introduction to Civic Engagement” (CIVC101) course that is required for all undergraduate students, the pedagogy that informs academically-based civic engagement (called Community-Based Learning, or CBL), and the Lindy Center’s work with faculty who want to incorporate civic engagement and CBL pedagogy into their scholarly practice.
